- Dudley Local Authority
- An important part of the educational transformation agenda in Dudley Secondary schools and the Dudley Grid for Learning is the exploitation of innovative and exciting virtual resources within the learning platform. We feel that Smart Learning’s VLE resources offer us a set of educational materials we would like all of our learners to experience and learn with.

- I would just like to say straight away the product on the whole is fantastic. The materials are great to set up on our VLE and the schemes of work have saved me a great deal of time. One of my team has developed a spreadsheet to go with the assessments. Staff enter in the sections the pupil has achieved at each level and then the next 3 areas not achieved are mail merged into an A5 sheet for pupils to take home. So with your materials I feel we have a good assessment system.
The books are colourful and look interesting but I would say we do not always use them they are sometimes there for our G and T students. The worksheets are excellent and consistently used. In fact half the displays in my room are made up of the example assignments grouped in levels with info on the characteristics of the levels next to them.
I should not say - but I think the product is fairly priced - there are at least 2/3 other schools in the Somerset area that have bought your product and I can honestly say that was through my recommendation at ICT co-ordinators meetings.

- Smart Learning is the best Key Stage 3 software that I have used so far in ICT. The pupils find your VLE resource very easy and simple to use. I find the tasks are very in date and also really engaging for all pupils. I like how creative you are with your tasks, especially the Murder Most Horrid Unit for exploring databases in Year 7.
In the future I’d like to see some sort of automatic assessment with your resources, but I'd recommend the Smart ICT Skills Builder VLE Packs for any school.

- For a busy head of department, the opportunity to provide attractive resources which actually work with minimal tweaking is not to be missed. The basis for all lessons is there and can be easily adjusted to meet the needs of all abilities, with interesting tasks and all the resources which are required.
What I particularly like is the test which comes at the end of each unit. Despite the demise of the end-of-KS3 tests in ICT, pupils are still going to meet similar tests of their abilities in Functional Skills and other examinations. These unit tests are an excellent preparation and come with clearly set out, easily understood model answers at levels 4 and 5. Assessment for Learning or what?

- We have tried many resources but found this one to be the best. As all ICT staff teach the lesson from the Smart ICT Skills Builder VLE software, pupils can access exactly the same lesson content from home as they see in the classroom.
This means that pupils work at their own pace and have access to all the resources.
Many of the pupils like the interactive ‘Openers’. These are quite funny, such as Unit 7.6 and it really does set the scene for the lesson. The resources allow pupils to become more independent learners and they’re more engaged with their learning.
For staff all the ICT learning objectives are covered in the VLE Pack and the content is also mapped to APP, Functional Skills and PLTS. The content is customisable which means that it can be adapted to suit your learners’ needs. Many other resources are rigid and inflexible and you’re forced to teach content which may not suit the class or the needs of your learners – this is not the case with Smart ICT Skills Builder.
