Accessibility Information
Early Years ICT Series
The following features of the Early Years ICT Series strongly support accessibility for children with disabilities or special educational needs:
- Learners are able to use the Windows ‘Mouse keys’ tool to control all aspects of the program as an alternative to standard mouse control.
- Clear, audio instructions are provided for each activity, offering additional support to learners with dyslexia and other reading difficulties. Learners can replay audio instructions and feedback as many times as required, by clicking on the sound icon (via the ‘Pupil Menu’).
- The clear visual design of Early Years ICT, plus the non-verbal audio feedback helps children whose first language is not English to access this resource.
- Learners with visual impairments can use screen magnifier software such as Supernova to increase the size of either text or graphics throughout the resource.

Learners with poor vision
- Early Years ICT is compatible with screen magnifier software such as Supernova giving learners with visual impairments the flexibility to increase text size or graphics.
- Clear, audio instructions are provided for each activity offering additional support. The learner can replay audio instructions by clicking on the sound icon (via the ‘Pupil Menu’).
Learners with poor motor skills
- Windows ‘Mouse keys’ can be used to control all aspects of the program as an alternative to standard mouse control.
- Early Years ICT is compatible for use by switch users, enabling children to develop their ICT skills using a switch control at a young age.
- The double-click speed has been slowed down in learner activities to assist those who have difficulty co-ordinating the double-click movement.
Learners with dyslexia or other reading difficulties
- Learners can access audio instructions for activities as many times as required, by pressing on the sound icon (via the ‘Pupil Menu’). This offers additional support for those with reading difficulties.
Learners for whom English is not the first language
- The clear visual design of Early Years ICT, plus the non-verbal audio feedback helps children whose first language is not English to access this resource.
Accessibility options should be implemented including keyboard and mouse features
- Windows ‘Mouse keys’ are compatible with the program.
Diagrams should be clear and have good visibility
- Screen magnifier software such as Supernova can be utilised to increase the size of graphics.
